Our June meeting theme was “on the edge” and it was perfect for our advanced #Toastmasters club.
Toastmasters step up to conquer their fear of public speaking, taking their own personal development into their own hands. They embrace the challenges and meet a fear head on that others shy away from. We are often on the edge, mastering the art of being comfortable with the uncomfortable.
One of the highlights for the meeting was executive board elections. Our Area 73 director, Sheila C., headed the nomination and voting process for the 2017-2018 leadership position.
Congratulations to our new board members:
President: Weegee S.
VP of Education: Dawn M.
VP of Membership: Kay W.
VP of PR: William B.
Treasurer: Bob M.
Secretary: Charlie H.
Sargent at Arms: Margot G.
We will be on summer meeting schedule for July and August, which means alternate locations. If you are interested in joing us for a summer meeting, please contact us at email@example.com
There is something about new faces in the audience that energizes members during a Toastmaster meeting.
This past week, Beachcombers Advance Toastmasters Club held their open house meeting at Sita’s with a few new faces in the audience.
The four guests were from all walks of life. Two were former Toastmasters and two were completely new to the program.
It was an exciting night of presentations from Michael W. and our lovely visiting Toastmaster Judy L. with riveting Table Topics questions from Rifa. The festivities were led and guided by the lovely Dawn M., who infused the evening with her wit and charm.
The guests walked away with a bit more knowledge about Toastmasters, our club and our members.
However, I think it was our members who learned a bit about the impact guests and potential members can make on a meeting.
It was a fantastic meeting for our October month!
Just a few reminders for next month:
Our next meeting is Nov. 18. and the theme is “Novels – Read them or write them”. The chairperson is Bob M., but there are many other roles up for grabs. Please sign-up in Turbobase.
Also, the executive board meeting is scheduled for Nov. 15 from 7pm – 9pm at the Miller’s home. Please contact a board member if interested in attending for more details.
